about a year or so ago i bought a hamster from the humane society. turns out that hamster was a little... slow. i'm sure is she was born in the wild she would have quickly been eaten by some sort of natural predator, like a cat or a fox or a venus fly trap. she would run in her wheel with her head sticking out getting hit repeatedly in the head by the spokes. poor little retard.
