measure twice, cut once

the important question is what is the real problem here? is it that the kid on the left has rushed into his project with little thought and is blind to what problems he may have or could encounter later on? that he is in denial of his possible mistakes? or is that the kid on the right is too quick to pass judgment? that he is skeptical and doubtful of the other kid's alternative approach to the project?

i want to think that this thing would work. i hope that it all turns out ok. but the more i think about it the more i wonder about the structural integrity of the the boy's project. that he got ahead of himself and made hasty mistakes. the results thus far make me wonder if there is a method to his madness or just a madness to his methods. despite his possible blunders he could still pull this thing off. it reminds me of the time my cousins and i made a tree fort (platform) using this wood from a shed that got torn down. the wood wasn't of the best quality. it was kind of weak and i think a little rotted. but we just built layer upon layer upon layer of crapy wood until we decided it could hold our weight. and that kid on the right could probably pull it off too provided he has enough wood.

though, it has been my personal experience that having wood tends to just create more problems.
